Special Volunteers

Recognizing a Special Group of Volunteers

There is a special group of local volunteers that do not receive the recognition they deserve. These special volunteers are the men and women of the Webster Special Police. This group of dedicated individuals has been involved in assisting both our town police force and two fire departments since 1953.

The roster of the Webster Special Police includes twenty –five officers. None of these volunteers are paid, but the town does provide a budget of $18,000.00 per year for uniforms, equipment, trucks and other items needed for these wonderful folks to do their job efficiently.

One of the critical services the Special Police provides to the town is the 475 hours of court security at the Van Ingen Court Building. This saves the town over $19,000.00 in wages and additional benefits if Webster Police officers were used instead.

The Webster Special Police also provides over 1,200 hours of service at parades and carnivals, along with community events such as Village Days, Halloween and the Christmas Parade of Lights.

If you would like to learn more about the Webster Special Police go to or call 872 1216 ext. 399.
