Another Amazing Move by New York State

Posted on September 8, 2014 at 3:28 PM by PattiAnn Schultz

Just this week I was informed by the Office of Court Administration that within six months they will institute a new program that will require those who pay fines/surcharges by credit card to pay an additional fee of 2.99% of the total fine and surcharge.  As if the New York State surcharge on a ticket is not high enough already (around $100.00), New York State wants to suck the last penny out of our citizens for getting a ticket.

Our Town Clerks are in the process of implementing the program and getting new credit card machines.  The good news here is that if you move your business to New York you will not have to pay taxes for 10-years. Those of us already here will pick up the slack.

FREE Recycling and Shredding Event coming to the Town of Webster

The Town of Webster will be hosting a FREE, on-site Document Destruction Event and Computer/Electronics Recycling for residents and small businesses from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon on Saturday, September 20, 2014 at the Town of Webster Highway Department located at 1005 Picture Parkway.

Documents that include sensitive information such as bank account or social security information should be disposed of in a way that will protect your privacy.  The event is FREE to the public, and those wishing to take advantage of this service are encouraged to do so.  Convenient drive-up service is offered and the option is available to view the documents as they are being shredded.

For faster service and for the safety of our operators and equipment, we ask that you limit your documents to a maximum of six (6) boxes and/or bags and remove all paperclips, binder clips or similar metal or wire items before bringing your papers to the event.  This event is for paper documents only, and we reserve the right to reject boxes that do not meet the requirements.  Please be sure there are no foreign items in with your papers when you arrive at the event.

When dropping off computers and similar electronic items for recycling, please bring electronic items only, no refrigerators or household appliances will be accepted.  Items that will be accepted include; computers, monitors, TV's, laptops, modems, servers, microwaves, cell phones, fax machines, copiers, CD Players, IT Equipment, peripherals, audio/visual equipment, telecommunications equipment, and GPS Units.

Next Pharmaceutical Waste Pickup

The next pharmaceutical waste pickup will be held at the Wastewater Treatment Plant, 226 Phillips Road, on Saturday, September 27, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Any unused, unwanted or expired medication is taken for disposal. At the last event over 600 pounds of medication was collected and prevented from entering Lake Ontario from improper flushing into the lake.

If you have any questions about your town government, please feel free to contact me during regular business hours at (585) 872-7068; or email me anytime at supervisor@ci.webster.ny.us
