On Friday December 5th the Highway crew ended its leave pick-up for the 2014 season. The department collected 1,600 box loads of leaves this year. This is up over last year by 400 loads.
Any leaves that are still on your lawn or at the curb must now be bagged as the Highway Department has converted the trucks over to snow plowing operations in anticipation of the snow season. The same goes for spring time when I get calls about picking up leaves in April and May.
The Town of Webster does not do a spring clean up of leaves and tree branches so you must leave them for your waste hauler to pick up. Tree branches can be put in to a four foot long bundle tied with string, and leaves should be bagged for your waste hauler to take away after you clean up your lawn in the spring.
Mulch from leaves collected two years ago will be available for residents use in the spring as soon as weather permits, and will be available until the pile is gone.
Our friends with the Webster’s Joe Obbie Farmers’ Market have told me that some of the vendors will be participating in Santa Day! On Saturday, December 13th from 12:00 noon to 4:00 p.m. at the Webster Towne Center, Santa will be greeting the children and there will be a horse and carriage providing rides around the plaza.
Come and enjoy some holiday fun!
