If you do not already know, the Town of Webster has two water spray parks within town boundaries. The first water park is at the former Ridgecrest School site on Ebner Drive. At Ridgecrest Park there is also a skate park and basketball courts which are there for your enjoyment. The park is open from dawn until dusk and is a nice place for younger kids to play on the animal fountains as they spray water!
The second location of a water park is at the First Responders Park located at 1350 Chiyoda Drive (next to the Webster Recreation Center). This spray park opened late last summer and was a sensational hit from the start. The theme of the park is first responders to honor our community’s firefighters and policemen/women as first responders to any emergency.
This park has a tall three bucket fire hat which dumps a gallon of water on your head as you stand under the fire hat. The big fire truck in the middle of the park allows kids to slide down the truck and get wet at the same time. This park is also open from dawn until dusk and sits right next to the First Responders Playground which is another gem for children to play on while also enjoying the water park.
While at the First Responders Park, between the playground and the spray park, there is the Malou Basch Pavilion that offers shade and picnic tables. There are also grills available that can be used to enjoy a full day of family fun!
Currently in the design phase at this park are bathrooms and a changing area. This is being made possible by a grant that is being funded through Senator Michael Nozzolio’s office. Additional parking is being planned for late spring and will be installed by our Highway Department. The new parking lot will be right next to the existing tennis courts on the site.
Keep watch in future columns, the town’s web site and the town’s face book page for the exact date that these two spray parks will be open for the 2015 season.
