Webster is in the Top 50 of America’s Best Communities Competition

Posted on May 4, 2015 at 9:33 AM by PattiAnn Schultz

On Wednesday, April 29, 2015 Mr. Bill Carpenter, of Frontier Communications, announced that our own Webster community is being considered as one of America’s Best Communities!

The Webster Community Coalition for Economic Development, which is comprised of the Town of Webster, the Village of Webster, the Webster Central School District, the Webster Chamber of Commerce and the Village Business Improvement District, applied for this grant under the direction of Matt Chatfield,  Executive Director of the organization.

The award of $35,000 from the competition committee will be matched with $15,000 by our local partner the Xerox Corporation. The total funding of $50,000 will be used to develop an economic development strategy for judging in the next round.

The next steps will include developing a plan for a future presentation along with input from public participation. We will keep you informed as we move along towards the grand prize of a $3 million grant for first place and smaller monetary awards for second and third place.

SAVE the Date …

The Town of Webster’s Summer Celebration is going to be held on Saturday, June 20th this year at the Webster Recreation Building on Chiyoda Drive. The festivities start at 4:00 p.m. with fun for the kids.  There will be live entertainment starting at 5:45 p.m. that will go straight through until 9:45 p.m. when the fireworks begin.  Food will be served during this time with hot dogs, burgers, sausage, ice cream, fried dough and soft drinks.

So save the date of June 20th and come and join us for an exciting day of fun and good conversation with your neighbors!
