Webster Blood Drive Coming to Webster

Posted on May 11, 2015 at 10:26 AM by PattiAnn Schultz

For the past 30 years our own Chris Kotary has been the leader in coordinating the Webster Blood Drive to get residents out to give blood. Well, it has come to my attention that this year’s blood drive is critical to help restore the volume to the blood bank here in Monroe County.

So I am asking Webster residents to stand up this year and renew our faith in the Webster Blood Drive and plan to attend one of the two events scheduled for June.

The first event is Wednesday, June 10th at St. Paul’s Church located at 783 Hard Road from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  The second event is on Thursday, June 11th at the Webster Recreation Center, located 1350 Chiyoda Drive, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

It does not take a long time to give blood and from me and my wife’s experiences in the past year, it is well appreciated when an unanticipated health emergency happens. Please take time to give … Thank you.

Spray Parks

I have been informed by Mark Yeager, Commissioner of Parks and Recreation, that our two Water Spray Parks will be open for the Memorial Day weekend for everyone’s enjoyment!

Dog Receptacle Stations

The town again is once again going to try putting out dog receptacle stations in the Whiting Road Preserve starting soon. We have done this in the past, but our experience found that within a day all the plastic bags where stolen or the plastic bags where used but thrown onto the trail or into the brushes. We are putting up more signage than in the past and hope that this time residents will respect and return the bags to the receptacle.

If we get positive response and feedback on this pilot program, we will look into advancing it to North Ponds Park, which is another place residents refuse to pick up after their dogs and think that it is healthy to leave it on the ground for others to walk in.
