DON’T FORGET: Election Day is November 3rd

Posted on October 19, 2015 at 11:19 AM by PattiAnn Schultz

Just a reminder that the County, Town and Judicial candidates will be on the election ballot this year on the first Tuesday in November (November 3rd) for voter approval.

The prediction from the Board of Elections is that this year voter turnout will be very low.  I would like to see Webster voters take an interest and turn out to vote, and beat the other towns in Monroe County in voter attendance if we just put a little effort into it.

I constantly read on social media sites how residents are upset with this or that but change does not happen unless you vote and get involved in the process. It is disturbing to me to have residents complain about a topic when they have not taken the time to voice their concern in voting or take the time to get informed by reading the town web site or the Webster Herald on topics related to the town. People tend to place blame and say it is the town’s fault again for not notifying them personally about something happening in Webster. There is something called personal responsability and your right and obligation to understand what is going on in your community. The Town Board cannot do this for you; you need to do this on your own by voting.

Taxes come to mind here. I always hear that taxes in Webster are too high but when I ask if you voted in the town races or for the school board members I get, “Well, I was busy …” The polls are open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. to accommodate busy schedules and give everyone the opportunity to have the chance to vote.

Please Webster voters do your civic duty and vote on November 3rd.

2015 Annual Leaf Pick-Up

The Webster Highway Department will start the annual Leaf Pick-Up on Monday, October 26th, weather permitting.  Every effort will be made to pick up leaves on a weekly basis until the week of Monday, November 30th.  At that time, a final pass will be conducted throughout the town, starting from the West side to the East side.

This final pass through town may not take a full week and will depend on the amount of leaves needing to be picked up.  This will also end the 2015 Fall Leaf Pick-up season.  Any leaves collected after that will need to be bagged and left for your trash collector.

If anyone has any questions regarding the annual Leaf Pick-up, please contact the Highway Department at 872-1443, Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 a.m. – 3:30 p.m.

As always, if you have any questions about your town government, please feel free to contact me during regular business hours at (585) 872-7068; or email me anytime at
