At the Town Board Organizational Meeting on January 1st, Alecia Mazzo was sworn in as our newest member of the Town Board. Alecia presently is an attorney for Monroe County working in the law department. She will be the Town Board liaison to the Library Board, Parks and Recreation Department and to the Fire Council as she starts off her new career as Councilwomen for the Town of Webster.
Please welcome Alecia to her new job if you see her around town in the coming weeks and months. I am sure Alecia will become an asset to the community as she grows in her new Town Board position.
No Snow Does Not Equal Money Saved
Going around town I quite often heard how the town saved money because we had no snow in November and December. Well that is true in a way but not completely when it comes to the town budget. The town budget runs on the calendar year from January to December so the town spent many thousands of dollars last January, February, and March on salt, labor and repairs to trucks.
In fact, in the snow account which had budgeted $1,059,000 for 2015, we had less than $10,000 left to plow snow in November and December. We did make budget but we could have gone over budget if November and December where like any of our past snow years.
As of today, the salt barn is full, the trucks are set up with plows and salt spreaders on them and the Town of Webster Highway Department men/women are ready to take on any snow storm that hits Webster this year.
Remember to drive slowly in any snow storm, even if you have a four wheel drive vehicle, and please be courteous to the Webster Highway trucks out on the roads trying hard to make your driving conditions better.
