2012 Budget Dates Scheduled

Posted on June 20, 2011 at 11:58 AM by PattiAnn Schultz

2012 Budget Dates Announced

The Town Board has announced the dates for the beginning of the 2012 Budget process. All department heads must turn in their proposed 2012 budgets by July 5th. Then Finance Director Kathy Tanea and I, along with each department head with their Town Board liaison, will meet between July 7th and July 30th to discuss their proposed budgets.

The first televised budget workshop will take place on August 11th at 4:30 p.m. on Cable Channel 12. The second televised workshop will take place on August 18th at 4:30 p.m. prior to the regularly scheduled Town Board meeting that night. All budget workshops will be replayed in the coming weeks after the first televised airing so if you miss the first time, you will have a chance to see it again.

We hope to have the complete budget in the Webster Herald in late September when a copy of the Herald will be sent to every household in Webster. We coordinate this with the Webster Herald because the Town Board feels that it is very important that each resident has the opportunity to see first hand where their tax dollars are being spent. This also gives residents time to prepare to come to the public hearing on the budget and publicly talk to the Town Board about your likes or dislikes about the budget.

The Public Hearing and final budget adoption of the 2012 Town Budget have yet to be finalized but both will happen before the November election. It is always the Town Board’s intention to release budget numbers before the election so you the taxpayer can make informed decisions on the budget before Election Day.

It’s Time to Celebrate Summer!

Just a reminder: this Saturday is the Webster Summer Celebration at the Webster Firemen’s Field. Activities start at 4:00 p.m. with food and games. Musical entertainment with Brass Taxi begins at 6:30 p.m. and our traditional fireworks display will begin promptly at 9:45 p.m. to end this celebration.

This is a great opportunity to kick back and relax on a Saturday night, meet with new and old friends, enjoy some good music, and watch some great fireworks. Make plans to spend time with your Webster neighbors this Saturday at the Firemen’s Field!
