Split Rail Fence at Gosnell Big Field

Posted on December 5, 2016 at 10:00 AM by PattiAnn Schultz

I have received a few phone calls as to why the town took down the split rail fence around the Gosnell Big Field and there is a good reason as to why. You see, the fence was it terrible shape and the Genesee Land Trust has agreed to give the Friends of the Trails $2,500.00 to replace the fence in the spring. Since spring time is a very busy time for our Parks employees trying to get our parks open for the season, we decided to take down the fence now in preparation for the new spit rail fence in the spring. I hope that will answer the questions about the fence as we head in to winter with high hopes of looking at a new fence come spring!

One other remainder to all dog owners that like to let their dog(s) run in the Big Field – you MUST ALWAYS have your dog on a leash as it is a law under the Webster Town Code. Those who do not have their dog on a leash and are allowing them to run free in the Big Field face getting a ticket and fined in Webster Town Court. Please obey the law and always pick-up after your dog in all Webster Parks.

Some dates for your December calendar …

  • On Saturday, December 10th the Webster Towne Center is hosting FREE horse drawn carriage rides (weather permitting).  The rides will run from 12:00 Noon to 4:00 p.m. at the gazebo.  There will be free hot coco and Santa Claus will be there too!

  • For the December 14th monthly Supervisor’s Electronic Town Meeting, my guest will be our Town of Webster Superintendant of Highways, Joe Herbst.

I would like to take this time to thank Barry Howard for being the moderator of my Electronic Town Meetings. As the Webster Chamber President, Barry brings a host of Webster knowledge and the gift-of-gab to our monthly meetings and they would not be the same without him!

As always, if you have any questions about your town government, please feel free to contact me during regular business hours at (585) 872-7068; or email me anytime at
