Recreation Center Construction

Posted on November 30, 2010 at 4:26 PM by PattiAnn Schultz

Construction Is Underway for the Recreation Center Expansion

After awarding bids to five contractors at the October 21st Webster Town Board meeting, construction has started at the Recreation Center on Chiyoda Drive.

The first phase of moving the utilities, gas, electric and water lines, was completed early last week. This will now allow us to begin site work to prepare the ground for the addition to the building.

Work has also started on renovations inside of the current building with walls being taken down, along with the removal of carpets and heating and air conditioning ducts. While construction is underway, our Parks and Recreation staff is being temporary housed inside trailers on site.

Signs have been posted for residents to enter the gymnasium area during this construction period. Some programs are still being offered at this location while construction work is underway. Meanwhile, a number of Parks and Recreation programs have been moved off site to other locations while the construction is ongoing. Please contact our Parks and Recreation Department at 872-7103 if you have any questions about individual programs.

I would like to express my appreciation to the Webster Central School District for allowing us to use their facilities whenever possible to host some of our programs during the past few months and until this project is completed.

The Town Board and construction team meet every Wednesday morning to review and discuss any problems and report on the progress of the project from week to week.

Please note that the construction site has been fenced off and we highly advise residents to avoid this area for their own personal safety and so that workers can do their jobs without any inference. With everyone’s cooperation, the project can proceed without any interruptions.

Our goal is to have this project completed for a grand opening sometime in October, 2011.

If you have any questions about this project, or anything related to your town government, please feel free to contact me during regular business hours at 872-7068; or email me anytime at
