Ridgecrest Building is SOLD!

Posted on March 9, 2012 at 3:32 PM by PattiAnn Schultz

On Tuesday, February, 28th the Town of Webster sold the former Community and Recreation Center (Ridgecrest Building) to Lake Side Alpha. The selling price of the building was $375,000.00 and the proceeds the town will receive (after realtor fees and transfer taxes) will be put into the General Fund to be used as needed in the future. Most likely this will be used to stabilize the town tax rate in future years.

Lake Side Alpha has indicated that they will convert the building into a church and school in the months to come. The Town Board wishes them great success at their new location.

As I have stated many times in the past, the town only sold the building and some of the parking spaces at the Ridgecrest building site. The baseball diamond, water park, basketball court, box lacrosse and skate park still belong to the taxpayers of Webster. The Parks and Recreation Department will continue to maintain and operate these facilities. Residents will need to use the front parking lot to access these great assets that belong to the residents.

The Ridgecrest building served the community well for over 20 years providing recreation and meeting rooms to the public as the town’s main source of recreation activity. The building did not meet the growing needs of the Webster community any longer, and the Town Board decided it was time to more on to better a place that could better serve the needs of the residents. Memories are all that we have left of that building but fond memories they shall be for years to come.
