At the Monroe County STOP-DWI traffic Safety Awards Luncheon held in March, two Webster Police officers were awarded Certificates of Appreciation.
Officer Michael Burns and Officer Mark Reed were awarded certificates chosen by agencies for their outstanding commitment to the ongoing issues related to DWI enforcement.
DWI is the act of operating and/or driving a motor vehicle while under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs to the degree that mental and motor skill are impaired. It is illegal in Webster and we are fortunate to have these dedicated officers patrolling the Webster community looking for violators’ looking to do harm to other innocent citizens.
Railroad tracks are being removed!
Today I just signed the contract to remove the railroad tracks from Holt Road east to Xerox to provide additional walking trails on the Hojack line for residents to use. The grant for this work was obtained from County Legislators Dan Quatro and Carmen Gumina in the amount of $ 240,000.
The Town and Village of Webster Highway Departments are working together in cooperation in doing some of the work in conjunction with removing and preparing for track removal and preparation of the railroad bed for a walking trial.
After track removal the roads involved that had tracks running through them will be repaired by the town to level and fix the roads to bring them up to current standards without railroad crossings.
This projects has been in the works for the last couple of years and we hope to have it completed by July 31s by the time our funding runs out.
