Joe Obbie Farmers' Market Expanding Days and Hours

Posted on August 6, 2012 at 4:17 PM by PattiAnn Schultz

The highly successful Webster’s Joe Obbie Farmers’ Market that is being held at the Webster Towne Plaza on Holt Road is now open on Wednesdays from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. starting August 8th! Stop by and enjoy some community spirit while purchasing farm fresh fruits, vegetables, plants, fresh baked goods and crafts.

The resounding success of the market on Saturday mornings and the requests for more opportunities to purchase farm fresh produce have lead to these expanded hours. I would like to take this opportunity to thank COR Development Corporation for the chance to locate the farmers market in Towne Plaza, plus the outstanding cooperation they have shown to the participants each and every Saturday morning.

If you haven’t yet taken the time to stop in and visit your home based farmers market located right here in the Town of Webster on Holt Road, you should make an effort to stop and purchase some delicious farm fresh produce.

Budget Time Again for 2013

The Town Board and all Department Heads recently met in a four-hour round table discussion to go over requests for the 2013 Town Budget. Each Department Head had the opportunity to present their budget to the Town Board on what the projected needs are for the coming year.

After hearing from all, the current budget requests far exceed what the Town Board would consider as a budget for 2013. The next step in the process is to present the Department Head’s budget to the public on August 9th and August 16th at 4:30 p.m. on Cable TV 12. The residents will be able to see the whole budget as presented to the Town Board.

In September I will present to the Town Board the “Supervisor’s Budget” and the complete budget will be published in the Webster Herald some time in October. By New York State law, final budget adoption does not have to be done until December 20th.

I do predict, as in the past couple of years with this new 2% Tax Cap given to us by the Governor, that balancing this budget will again be very difficult with some pain and sacrifice necessary. Cost increases far outweigh our revenues at this point in time.

The Town Board continues to ask residents for your input on balancing the 2013 Budget. Any suggestions can be emailed to me at
