Once again the all volunteer group “Friends of the Trails” are working hard to improve the trail system here in Webster. The town, under the open Space Plan, purchased 72 acres from the Finley family on Lake Road next to Four Mile Creek a few years ago. Just recently, private donations from a couple of local construction companies helped box out the land at the corner of Phillips Road and Lake Road for a parking lot. The Town of Webster Highway Department is finishing up the project with stone and piping so that residents will have an area to park while fishing or walking the trail there.
Again, thank you to this organization that has given so much to the Webster community in just a short period of time to give us a trail system Webster can be proud of.
Governor’s New Gun Bill
While I will hold judgment on the bill itself, I am somewhat upset over the “Webster Provision” in this gun bill. I cannot imagine that we can agree that keeping someone in jail for life after committing such a heinous crime as shooting two innocent fire fighters is appropriate. I would certainly believe the death penalty is in order for someone who so callously would take someone’s life like that. Spending tax dollars to feed and clothe someone for life after committing such a senseless act is a kick to the stomach for the families of those left behind. This portion of the bill in my opinion needs to be changed.
