Household Hazardous Waste Collection
The Monroe County Department of Environmental Services (DES) and the Town of Webster, Town of Penfield and the Village of Webster have joined forces to hold an appointment-only Household Hazardous Waste (HHW) collection on Saturday, April 20, 2013. This collection will take place at the Webster Highway Garage, 1005 Picture Parkway from 7:45 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
Most HHW (paint, flammables and other chemicals from home-use) is safe when used and stored properly. When they become unwanted and are disposed of improperly, these household wastes can become environmental hazards.
To ensure safety and reduce waiting times, appointments are required at all HHW collections. Appointments for this HHW collection will be accepted until April 19th. To schedule an appointment, Webster residents should call 872-1443, Penfield residents can call 340-8710 (Monday thru Thursday, 7:00 a.m.–4:30 p.m.), or go on-line to http://www.monroecounty.gov/hhw to schedule your appointment. This Household Hazardous Waste collection is open to all Monroe County residents. Waste from businesses will not be accepted.
The Sewer Department will be having a Pharmaceutical Collection on Saturday, April 27, 2013 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at 226 Phillips Road. They will only accept unused, unwanted, or expired medication. No mercury or hazardous material will be accepted.
For more information or if you have any questions, please call 265-0505.

This is 100% leaf mulch. Nothing has been added to the mulch. The mulch will be restocked as needed available while supplies last.
Relay for Life
The American Cancer Society’s Annual Relay for Life is being held on Saturday, June 1, 2013. The event will begin at 6:00 p.m. and is being held at Webster Thomas High School, 800 Five Mile Line Road. The date for the relay will be the start of this year’s event where many teams and individual participants will set up camp for an all night walk with friends and others.
You can check out the web site www.relayforlife.org/websterny for current status including top teams and fundraisers for ideas. It would be great to see the Webster community involved with many different teams as to make this year’s event a huge success for fighting cancer. Remember the journey to end cancer starts with a single step and I know the Webster community will step up to the plate and support this year’s Relay for Life.
