[ARCHIVED] NYS DOT Additional Update for Route 104 Overpass Construction:

NYS DOT Additional Update for Route 104 Overpass Construction:

The map below illustrates the changes in striping made Saturday to allow more cars to stack in the ramp area coming off of 590 South at Empire. Those people that want to stay on the detour to 590 North should stay in the middle lane directly at the intersection. That will put you in the right lane heading Eastbound on Empire, making it easier to negotiate the right turn onto the 590 Northbound ramp. Also we are suggesting to travelers they can use exit 7 at Browncroft as an alternate exit or area to turn around and head north.

The dotted black lines on the map represent the existing striping that was blacked out.

The deck repairs on the bridge require more space than an open lane would have allowed. It is very narrow and that work alone will take three weeks. The work if it could have been more than twice the duration to complete with much less desired results, had we been able to switch lanes back and forth during the project.

Currently they are in the process of Hydro Blasting and beginning Wednesday evening they will begin the two shifts per day working into the night. Also, a latex modified overlay is being used to speed the cure of the cement thus allowing for a shorter delay in the reopening as compared to other methods.
