Justices
Town and village justices are elected to four-year terms. Most towns have two judges presiding over the courts. Town justices take turns serving as on-call judges, where they are available to conduct arraignments 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Jurisdiction
Town and village courts are local courts with original jurisdiction over all criminal and traffic matters arising within their borders. They have jurisdiction over civil matters up to $3,000.

Appeals from both the small claims and civil parts of the court are made to the Monroe County Supreme Court. |
