Shifts
Snow plows
The Highway Department runs three shifts to remove snow during the snow season, which is January 1 through March 30. These shifts are:
  • Administrative staff shift - 7:00 am to 3:30 pm
  • B shift - 12:30 pm to 8:30 pm
  • C shift - 3:00 am to 11:00 am

There is also a dispatcher on call 24 hours a day from December 1 to April 1.

Snow Stakes / Delineators
Snow stakes (markers) placed by town personnel are for the sole purpose of delineating obstructions or points of curve for drivers during snow removal operations. They are strategically placed to guide us, but not to obstruct or impede our operations. During storms or heavy accumulations, we may perform a detail called "benching" or "shelving." At that time, stakes (markers) may become vulnerable and subject to damage from shelving. The Town does not repair or replace damaged markers placed in the right of way by homeowners.

Regulations
Throughout the snow season, snow must stay on your own property. It is against the law to place anything in the road, including snow, leaves, and sticks. There is also no parking on town roads from November 1 through May 1 from 12:00 am to 7:00 am. Parking on roads is also prohibited during snow emergencies.
