Webster Getting Ready for Summer Sensations
Ronald Nesbitt
Webster Town Supervisor
On Monday evening March 19th I had the pleasure of attending a reception held by The Business Improvement District (BID) of the Village of Webster.
The goal of The Business Improvement District is to promote a healthy village that benefits the entire “Community of Webster.” It also gives local businesses and government leaders the opportunity to work together in showcasing our community to tourists and area visitors.
The Webster Community’s annual summer-time events, Summer Sensations, will start the 2007 season with a series of Friday night summer concerts held at the Village Gazebo on North Avenue (Route 250). This year’s concerts begin at 7 p.m. starting June 15th and going through August 24th. Bring your blanket or lawn chair and enjoy some wonderful entertainment by talented artists.
The Webster Shakespeare Festival, which is celebrating its second season, will perform at the Veterans Memorial Park on August 1st through 5th and 7th through 9th starting at 8 p.m.
The last event of Summer Sensations is the Webster Village Days which takes place August 10th through 12th in the Village of Webster. Village Days is a wonderful opportunity for everyone to enjoy good food and entertainment. Visitors can purchase items from local merchants and vendors who have tents set up along Main Street. Just a reminder that Main Street will be closed to vehicular traffic during Village Days, but there is plenty of free parking available.
I would like to encourage all local businesses, or any resident, to become involved and participate in bringing the village back to being the “Crown Jewel” of Webster. You can do so by contacting Dave Galeazzo at dgaleazzo@villageofwebster.com or at 265-2770 ext. 15.
National Volunteer Week
The 2007 National Volunteer Week is April 15th through the 21st. The event, sponsored by the Points of Light Foundation, is about thanking volunteers in our communities and calling attention to all that they do to improve the lives of others. This year’s theme is “Inspire By Example,” and it gives you an opportunity to nominate a volunteer you know for the annual President’s Volunteer Service Award.
Go to www.pointsoflight.org or call (202) 729-8177 for further information. On behalf of the Webster Town Board I would like to thank all of the volunteers that dedicate their time and talents to our many programs and community activities. You really do “inspire” our town!
It’s also that time of the year when our annual leaf mulch will be available to all Webster Residents. Please no contractors. Starting Monday, April 2nd compost will be available. The mulch will be hauled to the Webster Town Hall’s Parking Lot. As you know it goes quickly and we will try to replenish the mulch pile every day during the week until we run out.
Please note that Webster Town Hall will be closed on Friday April 6th. We will reopen for business on Monday April 9th. On behalf of all of the employees of the Town of Webster, I wish you a wonderful holiday.
As always, I invite anyone with questions, suggestions, or anything you wish to discuss, to contact me by email at or telephone (585) 872-7068.
