Civil Service Title: Director of Parks and Recreation

Job Location: Parks and Recreation
Hours of Work: Full time

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EITHER  :

(A) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Recreation and/or Parks Management or closely related field, plus three (3) years of full-time or its part-time equivalent paid experience in the administration of recreation and/or parks services which shall have been in a responsible supervisory or administrative capacity; OR,

(B) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of full-time or its part-time equivalent paid experience as described in (A); OR,

(C) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master's degree in Recreation and/or Parks Management or closely related field, plus two (2) years of full-time or its part-time equivalent paid experience as defined in (A); OR,

(D) Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with a Master's degree, plus three (3) years of experience as defined in (A) above; OR,

(E) An equivalent combination of training and experience as defined by the limits of (A), (B), and (C).

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

If you are appointed, you will be required to possess a valid license to operate a vehicle in New York State or otherwise demonstrate your capacity to meet the transportation needs of the position.

Candidates must be eligible for appointment as Director of Parks and Recreation, as per the rules and regulations of the Monroe County Department of Human Resources and Civil Service.
